Manufacturing Survey

Thank you for participating in the 2020 JDI Roundtable on Manufacturing Competitiveness in New Brunswick Manufacturing Competitiveness Survey.

To identify manufacturing strengths and opportunities in the province, the Atlantic Institute of Policy Research (AIPR) is conducting a survey of manufacturers to gauge the overall climate of manufacturing in the New Brunswick. This includes getting a temperature on factors such as technological readiness, labour challenges, and planned areas of investment. Broadly, the information collected by this survey will contribute to a better understanding of how New Brunswick manufacturing leadership feels about near- and long-term prospects for their firms, as well as for their sector overall. The survey is also intended to assess the technological maturity of manufacturing with respect to digitalization and automation. This information will help researchers assess how future policies and investments could be targeted to address pain points currently experienced by manufacturers and foster continued growth within the sector.

Please note that this survey builds on the concept of Industry 4.0. This concept refers to the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, including:
•    Obtaining real-time data from a machine
•    Adding context to that data to turn it into useful information
•    Analysing that information (manual or automated)
•    Using that analysis to make decisions (manual or automated)
